The boy who fixed watches

Dr. Juan Martínez Caamaño grew up surrounded by orthopedics: he's the son of an orthopedic surgeon. As a boy, his thing was fixing — watches, radios, any electronic gadget that landed in his hands. That curiosity to understand how things work, and to bring them back to life, never left him.

The boy who fixed watches is today the surgeon who repairs bodies. And that same instinct — to build and to solve — is what led him to found Baja Orthopedics.

The idea took shape in 2008. Newly back from his specialty training and just starting to practice in Tijuana, Dr. Martínez Caamaño came across a multidisciplinary orthopedic practice at a congress in Guadalajara. He became convinced something like it could be built here — and set out to find the people to build it with.
